Wave flume facility

Between renewable energy sources, ocean wave power, around the coasts worldwide, has been estimated to be in the order of 1 TW. The conversion of this resource into sustainable electrical power represents a major opportunity to nations endowed with such a kind of resource.
The Termochemical Power Group is carrying on the study of innovative ocean energy devices for distributed microgeneration. In order to test and validate the results of numerical simulations (CFD and dynamic modeling) and to measure the conversion performance of Wave Energy Converters (WEC), a wave flume with bottom hinged flap wavemaker, and a passive absorbing sloped beach has been designed and built at the TPG’s laboratory located in Savona (University Campus).
