TPG offers opportunities to undergraduate students for both Bachelor and Master Thesis. The proposed works can be developed:

Comment: I started to collaborate with TPG with my Master Thesis in 2013 and then I spent the following five years between PhD and Post Doc. Thanks to such a professional group I had the opportunity to work on different energy fields (smart grid, fuel cells, hybrid systems, flexibility of combined cycle) with international cooperation in EU Project and industries such as Rolls-Royce. I really enjoyed working in this stimulating and multi-cultural environment. All the colleagues and professors I worked with helped me to grow professionally and humanly and I am glad to still collaborate with such a great research group!

Comment: In 2003 I obtained an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Genoa. I then carried out a research on the “Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell System Anode Ejector Design” and in 2007 I have been rewarded with a PhD on “Design Analysis of the Fuel Loop in a 1 MW SOFC Hybrid System”. Since 2007 I covered several positions in Rolls-Royce where I’m currently working as a Business Development Analyst. At the moment I’m also doing an MBA at Warwick Business School.

Comment: I obtained my degree in mechanical engineering in 2002, with a master thesis on the “Simulation of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anodic circuit for applications in hybrid systems.” During the following two years I’ve been working at the TPG lab on Hybrid Systems modeling and components testing. I performed research activity on several Fuel Cell European projects in cooperation with Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems. In 2004, thanks to this experience, I’ve been employed by Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems, where I worked until 2008, when I decided to leave UK and come back to Italy. I currently work in Duferco Engineering as project engineer on thermal power plants projects.

Comment: I arrived in Genoa in September 2014 for a 4 month Fulbright appointment that was extended to 9 months with a contract from the University of Genoa. The project aims were to develop a combined dispatch/controller using MPC to control the E-HUB plant in Savona. The project proved challenging, but ultimately successful. Many thanks to my collaborators at TPG for helping develop and run successful experiments at the E-HUB plant in Savona. My time in Italy was made possible by the efforts of Professor Traverso, and I am forever grateful for the experience.

I performed research activity on several Fuel Cell European projects in cooperation with Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems. In 2004, thanks to this experience, I’ve been employed by Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems, where I worked until 2008, when I decided to leave UK and come back to Italy. I currently work in Duferco Engineering as project engineer on thermal power plants projects.
